ECCFWSD Implements Stage 2 of Conservation / Drought Contingency PlanEffectively September 1, 2011 the District has initiate Stage 2 of the District’s Conservation / Drought Contingency as posted in the Monitor News paper. Stage 2 is the first mandatory phase of the plan. Customers are required to conserve outside watering and conserve water where possible.

Water customers with addresses ending in 0, 2, 4, 6 and 8 can irrigate lawns on Sundays and Thursdays from 6:00 PM until 10:00 AM. Excessive run off is prohibited.

Water customers with addresses ending in 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 can irrigate lawns on Saturdays and Wednesdays from 6:00 PM until 10:00 AM. . Excessive run off is prohibited.

Other landscaping areas such as trees, flower beds and foundations can still be watered any day if it is by means of a hand-held hose watering device, faucet filled bucket, soaker hose or drip irrigation system.

Washing of any motor vehicle, motorbike, boat, trailer, airplane, or other vehicle shall be limited to the use of a hand-held bucket or a hand-held hose equipped with a positive shutoff nozzle for quick rinses. Vehicle washing may be done at any time on the premises of a commercial car wash or commercial service station. Further, such washing may be exempt from these requirements if the health, safety, and welfare of the public are contingent upon frequent vehicle cleansing, such as garbage trucks and vehicles used to transport food and perishables.

All users are encouraged to reduce frequency of draining and refilling swimming pools.

Commercial Businesses are encouraged to conserve water where practical. Restaurants that serve water to customers are requested to refrain from this practice except when water is requested.

Non-essential watering such as wash down of driveways, sidewalks and other hard service areas are prohibited with district water, except to alleviate an immediate health or safety hazard. The repair of private water line leaks which include sprinkler heads is essential. The District will provide a notice for leaks to be repaired.

Exceptions:

Foundations may be watered up to two hours on any day by handheld hose; or using a soaker hose or drip system placed within 24-inches of the foundation that does not produce a spray of water above the ground.

Twice per week watering restrictions do not apply to locations using water other than ECCFWSD Water for irrigation.

We ask all our customers to report any water leak or suspicious areas with water saturation so they can be investigated and repaired judiciously.

For more information regarding the Districts Stage 2 phase or for requesting a variance please contact out office at (903) 887-7103 Monday – Friday from 8:00 Am – 4:00 PM and request to speak to the General Manager, Bill Goheen

Our water source, Cedar Creek Lake is currently approaching 7-feet below normal pool and with evaporation from hot weather and winds the lake will continue to decline. Every gallon of water saved by conservation practices can be considered water left in the lake for evaporation which is the major cause of our water source, Cedar Creek Lake’s decline. It’s the right thing to do.
