Lead and Copper Rule Improvements

Every public or private water system which serves water to over 15 service connections across the country will be required to provide an initial inventory of their water service lines to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by October 16, 2024, through their state regulatory agency.

This rule is required for community and non-transient non-community public water systems to comply with the service line inventory requirements of the January 15, 2021, Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR). These fillable forms and tables are for public water systems (systems) to document their methods, organize their inventory, submit the initial inventory and inventory updates electronically to the TCEQ, and document how they are making the inventory publicly available.

Refer to the Lead and Copper Rule Revisions rule language in 40 CFR ยง 141 Subpart I and the EPA's Guidance for Developing and Maintaining a Service Line Inventory for minimum LCRR requirements and recommendations.

For questions, please contact LCRR@tceq.texas.gov or call (512) 239-4691. The financial, managerial, and technical (FMT) assistance program can provide additional assistance and can be reached (512) 239-4691 or FMT@tceq.texas.gov.

THE FOLLOWING VIOLATION IS FOR CUSTOMERS ON THE NORTHSIDE ONLY.

Mandatory Language for Surface Water Treatment Technique Violation

SURFACE WATER TREATMENT TECHNIQUE: [NON-ACUTE]

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) sets minimum water quality standards for public drinking water.  [These standards include enforceable treatment technique requirements for drinking water.  Inadequately treated water may contain disease-causing organisms.  These organisms include bacteria, viruses, and parasites that can cause symptoms such as nausea, cramps, diarrhea, and associated headaches.]

The EAST CEDAR CREEK FWSD BROOKSHIRE, PWS ID TX1070167, failed to meet the minimum treatment technique requirements for the month of JANUARY 2024. Specifically, our water system had a Combined filter effluent turbidity reading above 1.0 NTU.

All appropriate measures were taken to ensure the system was brought back into compliance immediately and there was no Boil Water Notice issued because no water left the treatment plant during the time the violation occurred.

Please share this information with all people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (i.e., people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.

If you have questions regarding this matter, you may contact James Blodgett at 903 887 7103  .

Notice mailed to All Northside Customers on 04/08/2024.
